My current training plan

Chasing sub 20 5k

In July this year ('24) I recently decided to have a Lactate Threshold test to see how I could improve my speed to achieve a sub 20 minute 5k (Parkrun) time.  I received a new training plan that focuses on heart rate and it has made a big difference.  However, I've had to put this on hold due to an Achilles injury.

Chester Ultra 100 mile - NO training plan

Ultra Loop Track Edition - training plan

This was my intended plan.  You'll see below its not quite worked out as planned!

I did it !! Even managed a sprint finish on the last lap (check my Insta)

I am so happy, especially after being so far behind on my training plan!!

Ultra Training Plan - I did it!!

I've done my first Ultra marathon!!

Week 10 onwards - lots of rest days to allow recovery and avoid missing the Ultra.  Many miles behind my target.

Week 9 - Bad case of shin splints (after the PB), had to rest & change my plans.

Week 8 - 2nd ever marathon!  Tested the mental side, run 13 times around Pontefract racecourse.

Week 7 - attended Dewsbury 10k on 5thFeb and knocked over 4 mins off my PB.

My 14 week training plan which started on Monday 19th Dec in readiness for the ultra race on 25th March 2023

I will be posting my progress like I did with my marathon.  I hope you find the time to check in on me every now and then

Thanks again to you wonderful people for all your support so far, you have been truly amazing :-) xxxx

My Marathon Training

13/11 : Well I did it!  What a journey, thanks everyone who has supported me along the way

5/11 : Got all time PB (not just post illness) at Nostell Priory Park Run : 25.07 mins

30 Oct : Added some extra data.  I've caught up this week.  I am only 11miles behind which I'm happy with

27 Oct : my friend Debbie pointed out I should have done 7 miles oops! - that's my rest day cancelled :-0

My plan above is based on a mixture of the Marathon Handbook and guidance from fellow runners at Ackworth Road Runners club, along with lots of inspiration from so many people, in particular Sarah Place and Ben Parkes

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE SO FAR

Added extra rest day from week 6, I have to keep remembering I'm 54 not 24 lol
